“160 years old and still sounding so young and powerful – that’s Steinway.”
In this vein, international star Lang Lang congratulated Steinway & Sons on the company’s 160th anniversary, which was celebrated on March 5, 2013.
Since it was founded by Henry E. Steinway and his sons in New York in 1853, the company has been able to look back on an eventful history, throughout which only one thing counted: to build the best piano possible. To this day, instruments manufactured by Steinway & Sons are still legendary and, to this day, every Steinway is a masterfully crafted, unique work of art created with exceptional craftsmanship, superior materials, an eye for detail, and the specialist expertise of its employees in Hamburg and New York.
To mark the 160th anniversary, a special limited edition was released in the last quarter of 2013. Melodically named “Arabesque“, this grand piano boasts numerous exceptional details and will pay tribute to this special event.
The instrument was designed by renowned American furniture designer Dakota Jackson, who has already created a special edition for Steinway & Sons in 2000 on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the piano.
