Morgenstern Trio

MVA Morgenstern TrioThe three musicians of the Morgenstern Trio (violinist Stefan Hempel, pianist Catherine Klipfel and cellist Emanuel Wehse) joined forces in 2005 at the Folkwang Academy in Essen. In 2007, after only two years of intensive collaboration, the Trio was awarded several important prizes: First Prize at the International Joseph Haydn Competition in Vienna, Second Prize at the Fifth Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the prestigious ARD Competition in Munich. The previous year it had already won a sought-after scholarship at the German Music Competition, and in 2008 and 2009, the Trio was Ensemble in Residence at the Folkwang Academy. The Morgenstern Trio has already made a name for itself in concert halls across Germany, particularly through the National Young Artists Concert Selection and Best of NRW concert series. The ensemble has been invited to the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, France, the Mecklenburg‐Vorpommern Festival, the Heidelberg Spring Festival, the West German Radio Music Festival and the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland.

1 Response to Musica Viva Masterclass 3rd May

  1. Jerome says:

    – Wow, thanks for potisng this! I had no idea there was a BBC version of Sense and Sensibility. BBC’s version of Pride and Prejudice is, and always will be, my all time favorite movie, so I’m guessing they did a great job on S&S, too. I LOVE Emma Thompson as Elinor (where she sobs at the end is MY favorite scene of the movie)and I, too, feel Hugh Grant is endearing. But my husband does not. And he has PLENTY to say about it, therefore ruining it for me. I think I am ready to fall in love with a new Edward. I just hope I can find the movie now (I live in a very remote area).September 28, 2011 10:45 am
