Presented by The Queensland Orchestra in association with Australian Centre of Chinese Culture and Arts – Incorporating Q150 celebrations

Li Chuanyun (Violin), Sun Yingdi (Piano) and Perry So (Conductor)

Pianist, Yingdi Sun (b. 1980) won First Prize at the prestigious 7th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition, which was held in Utrecht in 2005.  He will be playing on one of the Steinway Model D Concert Grands at the Concert Hall.

Program highlights include:

The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto.

Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.1 in Eb.

Beethoven’s Overture to Leonora No.3.

The Australian Premiere of Wu Xing (Five Elements).

Work by Brisbane based composer Christopher Andrews.

Music by leading Chinese composers, including Chen Qigang.


“East Meets West” is a rare opportunity to hear two of the most exciting young virtuosi on the international concert circuit and compositions by some of the most important contemporary Chinese composers. The concert will also feature the outstanding young Hong Kong based conductor Perry So.
