Theresa Yu is in Year 10 at Pymble Ladies’ College, where she holds a full music scholarship. She started learning the piano at age 4, and currently studies with Daniel Herscovitch. She received her AMusA in 2006 and her LMusA in 2010, and this year, reached the second stage of the ABC Young Performer’s Awards. Theresa has won many awards from various competitions and eisteddfods, and was the State Winner (10-12 years) of the 8th Yamaha Australian Youth Piano Competition in 2007. She has also given a solo performance at the Sydney Opera House, been broadcast on 2MBS-FM, and been awarded the Kathleen Holmes Macrae Scholarship from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Apart from piano, Theresa enjoys singing and ballet.
Hank Xiang commenced his studies on the piano at the age of 12, obtaining his AMEB Eighth grade by the age of 16. His teachers have included Zsusza Giczy, Anna de Borah and Daniel Hill. He is currently in his second year, undertaking the Bachelor of Music Performance course at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tuition of Paul Rickard-Ford. He has recently participated in a masterclass with British pianist Paul Lewis. This year, he has premiered an Australian work; “The Aether Rings…” by Martin Friedel live on ABC national radio as part of the International Society for Contemporary Music festival in Sydney. Hank also plays the trumpet as a secondary instrument, and enjoys playing jazz in big bands and in small ensembles.
