DeClassified Music 2013 Kicks Off in Brisbane – April 2013

26April2013websiteimagenews

On Friday 26 April 2013, DeClassified Music held their first concert for the year at Theme & Variations Piano Services in Brisbane.   Artistic Director, Brieley Cutting (piano) teamed up with Patrick Murphy (cello) and Glenn Christensen (violin) to present a memorable programme.

Before interval, they effortlessly performed two Piano Trios by Joseph Haydn – the A Major Hob.XV:18 (1794) and the D minor Hob.XV: 23 (1795).  Brief introductions by Patrick set the scene and provided an informative insight into the trios and their background & peculiarities.

The exquisite lightness and delicacy of the two Haydn piano trios came through in this intimate venue.  You could almost hear a pin drop in the sublime moments throughout the middle movements!

After sampling the wine sponsored by Huntington Estate, the audience was treated to the first piano trio written by Beethoven – perfectly rounding out the programme after interval.

The next DeClassified Music concert will be held at Fireworks Gallery  around the corner from Theme & Variations in Brisbane.  As part of the Queensland Music Festival, “The Long Weekender” will be held from 11 – 14 July 2013.

Experience a musical long weekend with some of Australia’s most exciting musicians playing small ensemble repertoire from Mozart to Saariaho. Come and relish the mesmerising and diverse performances in the trendy, inspired setting that is FireWorks Gallery.

DeClassified Music (DCM) has grown from the Commercial Road Chamber Music Series (CRCMS).  Formed in 2011, the Commercial Road Chamber Music Series was committed to bringing first-rate classical small ensemble music to the Brisbane community in a way that was intimate and exciting.  Featured were chamber music concerts, workshops, emerging artist recitals and presentations.  As from March 2013, DeClassified Music emerged, indicating the CRCMS’s growth from the classical chamber music series to a series that will still offer the finest classical chamber music in addition to eventually offering the best Australian jazz, contemporary instrumental music and interdisciplinary collaboration.  The series has developed in this way so as to bring different audiences and musicians together by blurring musical boundaries, diminishing audience segregation and expanding minds by presenting mesmerizing and diverse performances in trendy and inspired settings.
