Do you fancy yourself as a wordsmith? Have you tried your hand at poetry?
Brisbane-based Artico Ensemble is looking for budding authors with a quirky sense of humour to write clerihews about famous Australians for its 2015 new Australian work project.
Clerihews are short, whimsical 4 line poems describing a well-known person in a quirky way.
Once all clerihews have been penned and collected, the members of Artico (Shelli Hulcombe, Brieley Cutting, Rianne Wilschut and award-winning composer-in-residence Paul Kopetz) will select the best few to be set to music by Paul. The finished song cycle under the working title of “Antipodean Clerihews” will be included in Artico’s Concert Season 2015.

“We have created a comprehensive list of wonderful Aussie icons to choose from for this innovative community-based project”, Rianne said. “Simply go to our website for further information and inspiration”.
Artico Ensemble, proudly supported by Theme and Variations Piano Services, has been performing its popular concerts in non-mainstream community venues around Australia since 2000.
This year’s concert season, running between May and December, will again see the group deliver its unique brand of chamber music in venues across the wider Brisbane area.
Happy Clerihew Writing!
