Tedeschi pops in to Theme & Variations to say hi to the Ashkenazy Piano!
Ahead of his performance of ‘Gershwin and Me’ this Friday 29th May at the Randwick Town Hall 7pm, Simon Tedeschi popped into Theme & Variations for a coffee! One of Australia’s foremost pianists, Simon is often described as “one of the finest artists in the world”; he is one of Australia’s most renowned and sought-after pianists, performing throughout Europe, North America and Asia.
Simon caught up with the staff at Theme & Variations and talked about his upcoming performances. Flexing his fingers on some of the pianos, he sat down to play some Bach on the Steinway & Sons D-274 Concert Grand, hand picked by maestro Ashkenazy in 1991 for the Sydney Opera House. Simon said it was a “seriously scintillating” piano. At 9-ft long and 480kgs, this piano doesn’t leave much to be desired!
The Ashkenazy piano will be available in the 2015 Sydney Symphony Orchestra Piano Sale 10th-12th July. Book your test play now!
