The veneer of the casework is Brazilian Rosewood (which is no longer available and was banned for import and export in the early 1900s). The lid-stand is Burdikin Plum from Northern Queensland (another very rare material).
The piano was coated in a shellac sealer, then a cellulose lacquer top coat, then completed with a dry-rub. Hundreds of hours have gone into the exterior by designer, craftsman and luthier Mr John Comacchio.
Now the team will complete the restoration of the action, frame, strings and all internal parts of the piano. All in a days work for Ara Vartoukian and his team!
