Theme and Variations Foundation 2015 Award

This year we publicised the awards to all conservatoria in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and ACT, inviting applications for assistance from our foundation. Applications closed on October 9 and our auditions took place on November 15. We had five finalists each to play a thirty minute program for an independent artistic assessment panel chaired by Professor Michael Brimer, together with Mr Ian Munro and Professor John Luxton.

We are pleased to announce our award winners as follows:

Robbin Reza is twenty one, currently studying with Daniel Herscovitch at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He is planning a career as a concert pianist. He plans on applying the award to further his studies in Germany, and to assist in covering costs for Australian and international competition entry fees.

James Guan is twenty five, and has been studying with Ian Fountain in London and Paul Rickard-Ford in Sydney. He is planning a career as a concert pianist, balancing that with teaching. He is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He plans to apply his award to his tuition fees and living costs in London, and to assist with fees to  enter international competitions.

William Shi is twenty, studying with Max Olding in Brisbane. He is planning a performance career to include solo and accompaniment music. He plans on applying his award toward exchange study in Europe or the United States, and to assist in covering costs for competition entry fees.
