In the Queen’s Birthday 2016 Honours List, Director of Theme & Variations Piano Services Ara Vartoukian, has received a Medal (OAM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia.

Ara has been formally recognised for his ‘service to music as a piano technician, and through support of the arts‘.  Being one of the leading piano technicians in the country, Ara has represented Australia on several occasions in China, Germany, New Zealand and Russia.  His skill and expertise in piano technology has made him an international authority.

Ara is also extraordinarily generous with his support of the Australian musical community.  He regularly donates his time, efforts and finances to help various organisations, competitions, and young and upcoming artists.

“Ara and Nyree are such a wonderful team and do so much for the musical community – it’s so exciting that Ara has been recognised for his amazing efforts.  I feel very privileged to work with such amazing people at Theme & Variations!” says Andrew Rumsey, Marketing Manager.

“This is a well deserved honour for Ara.  For more than thirty years we have known Nyree and Ara, and he has always shown himself to be most generous and honourable, working tirelessly to help those in his community.  His passion and knowledge of the piano and music have led him to support pianists from all around the world, and to help aspiring young pianists to reach their true potential” says Chris and Anita Levy, Theme & Variations Foundation.
