Quote of the day ‘great apple’! Comment from Fujita Mao. After playing an incredible last performance of the day he was obviously hungry. I was half way through munching a large green apple when I bumped into him back stage as he was on his way out after the throng oh well wishers had finally subsided. I went to congratulate him and I was about to shake his hand he looked at this scrumptious piece of fruit, looked up and just said ‘thanks, great apple’. I wish I hadn’t taken a byte or had another one to offer him. He seriously looked like he could have gone through several. What else would you think of after such a superb performance with a standing ovation. Oh well now it’s my turn on stage to check out the piano and ponder the thoughts and sayings of musicians…..
